MATT SNYDER
Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator and General Manager

Born and raised in London, Matt joined the Beefeaters as a quarterback from 2001 to 2003. During his time as a player, he had the privilege of being mentored by the legendary Beefeaters Hall of Famer, Mike Circelli. 

Before taking on the role of Head Coach with the Beefeaters, Matt served as the Running Back Coach at Western University from 2019 to 2021. His time at Western allowed him to refine his coaching skills and develop a deep understanding of the game from a different perspective.

Prior to his tenure at Western, Matt spent an impressive 10 seasons as the Offensive Coordinator for South Collegiate, a powerhouse high school football program in Ontario. During his time there, the team reached five consecutive TVRA Central Finals, won two London City Championships, and clinched the 2016 OFSAA Championship with a resounding 63-0 victory, which still stands as one of the highest-scoring games in recent OFSAA Football history.

From 2005 to 2016, Matt held the positions of Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach for the Forest City Thunderbirds football program. His contributions were instrumental in the team's success, and he played a vital role in shaping the players' skills and strategies.

In 2017, Matt took on the responsibility of Head Coach for the London Junior Mustangs U17 team. Over the course of four seasons, he led the Junior Mustangs to an impressive overall record of 29-8. The pinnacle of his time with the team came in 2022 when they achieved a perfect 10-0 season and emerged as the "AAA" Provincial Champions.

Matt's connection to the Beefeaters extends beyond his coaching career. In 2015, he served as the Offensive Coordinator under the current Beefeaters President, Rob Annen. This experience allowed him to further hone his coaching abilities and gain valuable insights into the organization.
Not only is Matt a skilled coach, but he is also a well-rounded individual. He is a proud graduate of the University of Windsor, where he played quarterback for the Lancers and earned a degree in American History. His academic background has undoubtedly contributed to his deep understanding of the sport and its historical context.

Austin Scarpelli
Assistant Head Coach & Defensive Coordinator                                                                                                                        

Coach 'Scarps' has been involved with Junior Mustangs Program (formerly the London Falcons) at
the varsity level for almost 15 seasons and has been a part of several OVFL and OPFL Championship teams. 

During that span, Coach Scarpelli served in a variety of roles, including being a long-time defensive coordinator, coaching DBs, LBs, special teams, and was the Falcons head coach in 2011.

Austin was named the Junior Mustangs volunteer coach of the year for the varsity program in 2016 and 2019.   
                                                                                                                                                                        
As a coach at Oakridge Secondary School, Coach Scarpelli won the Junior TVRA 'A' championship in 2009 and several TVRA 'B' division championships with the senior team at the school.

The former St. Thomas Aquinas and Beefeaters Alumni (Defensive back - 2004-2006) Coach Scarpelli also brings experience coaching in the OUA as a  guest coach with the Western Mustangs under Coach Marshall and with the Waterloo Warriors under Coach Bertoia.



derek howey
Assistant Head Coach & offensive line                                                                                                                       

Originally from St. Thomas, Howey is a proud graduate of St. Joes High School.  He continued his education at the University of Windsor, where he not only received his degree but also excelled on the offensive line from 2004-2009.

After his playing days were over, Howey transitioned into coaching and has made a significant impact on the teams he has worked
with.  Howey coached for the Forest City Thunderbirds from 2009-2012 and served as the Junior Offensive Coordinator for the Banting Broncos in 2011 and 2012.

Howey has been with the Beefeaters since 2022 as the offensive line coach and will continue to excel in that position alongside Mitch Molinaro while transitioning to his new role as Assistant Head Coach.
